Don'ts>>> I'm Dieting and Exercising and Not Loosing Any Weight
When a person is
trying to lose weight while dieting and exercising, they may
experience some sort of weight gain or the frustrating result of not
losing any weight at all. Sometimes this can drive a dieter to quit,
but before you throw in the towel, you should know there could be an
explanation to all of this that you can deal with. Below you will
find a few reasons as to why a person is gaining weight or staying
the same while dieting. You may be able to make a few lifestyle,
dieting or exercising changes to remedy your problem.
1) The
Number of Calories You Are Consuming
You have to take
a look at the number of calories that you are consuming. You may be
taking in more calories than you are burning energy, Remember that
almost every food item contains a certain number of calories.
Remember, the more you burn, the bigger the dent you put in your
calorie consumption.
2) Retaining Water
You may be gaining weight while you are
dieting because you are consuming too many salty foods. This also
happens if you are the sort of person that adds salt as a seasoning
to most of the things that you eat. Salt makes your body retain
water, which causes you to hold more weight. Some try to combat
water retention by doubling their water intake. This will help to
flush out the excess water in your body.
3)
Not Eating Enough
Calories & Starving Yourself
Usually, you
should be burning more than 1500 calories per day. You should try to
increase your caloric intake by 50 to 100 calories per week so that
your body can use the calories to burn the excess fat within your
body. If you stave yourself, you will not burn your excess fat
unless you are continually practicing unhealthy dieting practices
that can lead to serious eating disorders. You body will negatively
react to a lack of much-needed calories. If you are not getting the
proper amount needed, your body will think that you are starving and
goes into “survival” mode, thus saving anything you eat and turning
it into fat.
4) Genetics
There are a few obese individuals who will find losing weight a
particularly hard task due to their predisposition to gaining and
maintaining a high weight. This is attributed to single gene
mutations that are responsible for a person to have a syndrome that
causes them to gain weight.
5) Gaining
More Muscles
If you are dieting and exercising and not losing any weight, then
you may be replacing you lost weight with the addition of more
muscles to your physique. This is especially true when you have been
exercising or lifting weights. Muscles weigh more than fat does.
6) Birth
Control Pills and Other Medications
If you have just
started taking birth control pills, switched birth control brands or
are taking any other medications, you could experience fluctuations
in your weight. Some women gain weight when they begin taking birth
control pills. Other medications promote the retention of water,
which causes you to weight more.
7) Quit
Smoking
If you are
trying to revise your eating habits and have also quit smoking, your
body may be reacting by gaining weight.
